Bitler, Newport Beach, CA (Tripadvisor) – “We used reviews from TripAdvisor to choose this lovely small hotel. It was the highlight of our trip.”

Anfieldboy, Galway, Ireland (Tripadvisor) – “Location is excellent with only a 15 minute walk to Grafton St and 10 minute walk to Ballsbridge so very central for rugby (Aviva), concerts (RDS), shows (Bord Gais Theatre) and shopping (city centre).”

dieStPaul_MN, Brooklyn, New York (Tripadvisor) -  “This is a European style hotel (31 rooms), but rooms were far more spacious than typically is the case in Europe, the bathroom large, with shower and tub, and good water pressure; good wi-fi; coffee maker, free bottled water.”

August 2017 -Ideal City Break
We spent two nights at the Schoolhouse Hotel and soon discovered we made the right choice. The hotel has charm & character by the bucket! The rooms had all that we required, bottles of water, tea/coffee & biscuits and an excellent multi-media tv - (we didn't need a fridge!) We ate at the bar one night and the food and service were excellent. The breakfasts too were plentiful & I enjoyed one of the best Irish Fry ever. The hotel is in great location - just far enough away from the noise & bustle of the city centre but within an easy walk to the Temple Bar area, Aviva Stadium and the Bord Gais theatre. All in all a lovely little hotel and so different from the 'bland' chain hotels.

August 2017 - First visit to Dublin
Very helpful and engaging staff. Quaint accommodations with historical ties. Easy walk to central district. A great pub within the hotel. Highly recommend and would return if we ever go back to Ireland.

European style, with American style amenities
We stayed at the Schoolhouse for five nights August, 2017. In terms of location, in choosing this hotel, you choose quiet over a central location. It takes 20-25 minutes to walk from the hotel to tourist information and Trinity College on the south bank of the Liffey; the walk is simple, straight. passing Merrion Square and park(with a statue of Oscar Wilde) and the distinguished Georgian houses--so a pleasant walk. There is a bus as well. This is a European style hotel (31 rooms), but rooms were far more spacious than typically is the case in Europe, the bathroom large, with shower and tub, and good water pressure; good wi-fi; coffee maker, free bottled water. For breakfast you can choose from full traditional Irish (eggs, sausage, bacon black pudding, mushroom tomato), vegetarian version of same, lox and eggs, porridge, pancakes, etc.. The buffet has fresh, delicious pastries, dry cereal, fruit, juices, etc. We ate dinner very well and at reasonable expense twice at the restaurant. Service throughout was excellent

July 2017 - Lovely Hotel
The Schoolhouse Hotel is a first class option for enjoying all that Dublin has to offer while still having a quiet little oasis to retire for the evening. Our room, the formers chambers of the school's headmaster, was nicely appointed with a big, comfortable bed. If the option presents, we will be happy to return to this historic gem

July 2017 - Quaint hotel near heart of Dublin
We spent one night here at the end of a biking tour. Hotel is very quaint and we enjoyed a delicious lunch on the day of our arrival. Bar is great too. Hotel is about a mile walk to the "heart" of the shopping/restaurant district in Dublin. We enjoyed this distance as the hotel was nice and quiet but others may prefer something closer. We left the next morning for the airport before breakfast was served

July 2017 -What a wonderful place to stay - great for the Aviva Stadium too!!
My wife and I stayed there overnight recently and the room was lovely. Well decorated with a nostalgic feel, as was the bathroom which also had a great shower over the bath.
The bed was large and very soft/comfortable and the breakfast was perfect too.
Whilst we didn't have dinner there (as we were out at a concert) we did have a bar meal in the shady garden (which was welcome as the temp was in the upper 20s) which was also spot on. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable, I'd thoroughly recommend the place!!

June 2017 - Peaceful Hidden Gem
Helpful staff, good food, great location. Bed was so comfy we fell asleep and nearly missed our dinner before our show . Room was so quiet and dark at night it was lovely. A real gem and I will be recommending it to my friends and family

June 2017 - Exceptional
We stayed overnight on Wednesday...quaint,comfortable and very reasonable.we ate lunch on the outside terrace..food was yummy and staff were very attentive..!!its people like her that make you return time after time...we will be back!

May 2017 -Beautiful and comfortable hotel
Loved the hotel's William Morris style decor - very beautiful old building. Very comfy kingsize bed, very clean. Excellent customer service from the desk receptionist - also on the telephone when I called ahead to ask about transport from the airport. (The Aircoach from Dublin Airport stops right at the hotel so there is no difficulty at all). We had the Early Bird special which includes breakfast so we enjoyed the breakfast as well and the service in the restaurant. The location is convenient for walking into the centre as it doesn't take long till you are at Merrion Square

May 2017 -Perfect city break location
We stayed here for the first time last weekend while heading to a concert in the 3Arena. The staff that we encountered were friendly. It's in a perfect location as it's close to the Dart, on a bus route and a pleasant short walk to Grafton St. The beds were amazing!!!!!

May 2017- Fabulous place in Dublin !
Loved staying here
Very quiet location ten minutes walk from center with free parking for our rental car
Brilliant breakfast and so accommodating when we left. They let us in at 6.45am to order breakfast when their hours started at 7am
Manager was great, very helpful
Definitely stay here again :)

April 2017- "Beautiful hotel, a perfect choice, couldn't be happier"

“Beautiful hotel, a perfect choice, couldn't be happier!”
I spent a long time choosing a hotel in Dublin and decided on the Schoolhouse because it was small and looked full of character. What an excellent choice it was! This hotel is lovely in every way. The location is great, away from the busy areas, yet only a 15 minute walk to Temple Bar and other major attractions. Our room was large and comfortable with a huge bed. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choice. We ate in the restaurant and in the bar; the food was delicious. We caught the aircoach from Dublin Airport which very conveniently drops you at the hotel and picks up across the road from the hotel on your return. A brilliant hotel, beautifully renovated, I would highly recommend it

March 2017- Fabalous
Very good location; just 15 minutes' walk from Grafton Street. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff and great food in the bar/bistro area

March 2017 - Great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms with history attached
This hotel is in a great location with easy access to the city. The staff are very helpful and the bedrooms are quirky in that they each have a history lesson for you. They are also comfortable and spacious. The bar and restaurant attached are convenient with a great buzz. Breakfast was really good too. I will definitely stay here again

February 2017 - Fantastic
Fantastic gem of a hotel with a gorgeous cosy bar area and fab Irish music, lovely atmosphere yet very quiet at night which was great. Caught air coach on way back to airport stops right outside hotel which was great and a lot cheaper than a cab”

February 2017
Really nice, cosy, charming hotel. Also, well located. The breakfast was great, one should definitely book the rooms with it included! We loved that there was not only a Restaurant but also a really cool Pub next door!”

February 2017 - Will Come Again
This is our second time staying. We returned as we had such a good first experience. Our second stay was equally good. Customer service is top class from the person at reception to the bar staff and restaurant staff. All made you feel welcome. They must enjoy working there because they looked happy and that was reflected in the way we were treated. What we enjoyed about the room was the king size bed, a luxury. The hotel is old wordly so I dont expect everything to be perfect so will not be nit picking. Location is excellent with only a 15 minute walk to Grafton St and 10 minute walk to Ballsbridge so very central for rugby (Aviva), concerts (RDS), shows (Bord Gais Theatre) and shopping (city centre). The main ingredients were there and so we left feeling relaxed and wanting to come back again which we hope to do soon!

February 2017 - Gorgeous Hotel
Well what can I say, this hotel is just superb, the rooms, the food, I just cannot fault it at all. We had dinner in the bar & it was superb, I can only imagine what the actual restaurant food is like if the bar food is that good. The rooms where spotless & not your typical hotel room, which I love, the bed was unbelievably comfortable & that coming from me is the highest compliment as I usually find it very difficult to sleep when I go away, but not this time. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel & i will definitely be back. Thank you to all at the SchoolHouse for a fabulous stay!!

14th September 2016 - Essexposhtart - 'School Days'
A lovely Hotel in a lovely location right by the Canal. Nice quiet area about 10-15 minutes walk from the City Centre. Hotel is very clean in the rooms and the public areas. Nice breakfast although how its priced on the menu leaves one a little confused!! The staff are very efficient and friendly and nothing appears too much trouble. Apart from breakfast we ate in the Hotel twice. Lunch the first day of our arrival and dinner on our last evening. Both superb and plenty of it. All in all a very nice Hotel.

12th September 2016 - Maura - A Really 1st Class Function'
I attended a 60th birthday function which included pre drinks and a sit down 3 course dinner at this restaurant/hotel. It was excellent in every way. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. It was so professional catered for and the service was great. I would very much recommend this restaurant.

12th September 2016 - WWeatherly - 'First Night in Ireland
We arrived in early afternoon for our stay at the Schoolhouse Hotel. The parking was easily found and quite large. Careful when entering the parking area as the entrance is narrow, especially if you are new to driving in a right-hand rental care. The accommodations were excellent with a warm feel to them. The restaurant was very nice, could have been a chapel at the school at one time. We ate dinner and breakfast there and the food was perfect. a bar was located next to the restaurant and it was well appointed with a very nice crowd that frequented there. The hotel has air conditioning which I found out in my travels around Ireland isn't always available. I would have loved to have stayed longer at the Schoolhouse but we had plans to circumnavigate the lower portion of Ireland. We reluctantly departed the Schoolhouse but will be back again! We would highly recommend this hotel.

8th September 2016 - Liz Bennett - 'Splendid Spot'
We were drawn to the Schoolhouse Hotel by the look of its charm, and its location (close in to City Center, but tucked in off the Canal). From the moment we arrived, Rory at the front desk was wonderful! So helpful initially and throughout our stay with useful information, charm and wit. Highly recommend this spot. Food excellent. We travel once/year to Ireland, and this will be our new Dublin spot. (One minor nitpick: the "ironing" appliance is really awkward to use - feels like it's leftover from the 1950's.)

August 2016 - Very Boutiquey Hotel - ' TICoachTodd
It was indeed a former schoolhouse. Very quaint and lovely. Close to town center and places to eat. Very quiet, rooms are spacious. Food in the pub is excellent! Many taps as well. Breakfast was very good. Excellent continental spread as well as menu'd hot items as well.
